Chairs before Flight

I will be leaving in a couple of weeks to go to Russia because of the travel package that I was able to book from a Russian travel company, where I, together with my wife and kids, will be going to Arbat in Moscow, and see all the wonders and tourist spots around the place. The main attraction would be the visit to the Yuri Gagarin memorial complex. But first, before going to that wonderful place, I want to take care of the existing problem that we have in the house first, because as I write this blog entry, my couch is basically ruined due to termites. None of us knew that it was already being infested by those darn insects and yesterday, when I sat on it, the chair just collapsed and we saw how many were in there, eating through the wood. We already took care of the pests as pest control came over just this morning, but what I want to accomplish right now is to be able to get a new couch, at least before we fly to Russia for the trip. So far, I got some web sites to visit, but what I need is to find one that would ship immediately. I just wish we get one really soon.

My New Bedroom in My New House

Posted by admin | Bedrooms, Bedroom Furniture | Friday 17 July 2009 11:35 am

I was able to find a nice bedroom furniture store online that certainly helped me a lot in decorating my bedroom. I just moved in to this new house and it is not fully furnished so I really had to get a lot of stuff in if I want to have it looking like a bedroom. I decided to go for a whole set since I don’t have anything with me except a TV and a couch and I was able to get something that I really wanted in the form of the site’s Retro Bedroom Set – 500 Series, where I was able to fully furnish my bedroom in to something that I would definitely want to sleep in. The set included a large bed, a couple of solid wood drawers, a large armoire and a ladies chest. After they delivered the stuff and placed them inside my bedroom, I immediately dismissed the workers and used the bedroom on that same moment. I just locked all the doors, turned off the TV and other electronics, took a shower and went straight to bed on a 4pm, Saturday afternoon. I was just really excited about it because I have been sleeping on the couch for almost two weeks and I thought it’s time to have some comfort.

Direct Buy is Smart Buy

I was really impressed with what I just saw a couple of hours ago when I visited a showroom in Bakersfield for some home items and I think I will definitely be able to save a lot of money if I buy my furniture with Direct Buy Mountain View. I found out about them when I was trying to look for some items in the internet because I want to refurnish my living room in to something that I would actually show my friends and not the dump that I have right now. All of my furniture is old and I think it is about time that I do something about it, especially now that I could get the ones that I want at half price! I just could not believe the difference in price that they have in there, especially with the chair that I always wanted to buy from our nearest department store but can’t because it was too expensive. I saw the same chair in Direct Buy and they were selling it at more than half of the price that I saw in the department store. They say that the explanation is because they don’t pay the store markups anymore.

Restructuring the House with Structured Settlements

Posted by admin | Home Improvement | Wednesday 15 July 2009 8:11 am

I am about to go on my way to my brother in law’s house to help him with the renovations of his house. He said that he was able to save up all of his structured settlements, that’s why he got enough money to have his living room and kitchen renovated the way he wanted it to be. He said he wants to have a contemporary look on the kitchen and living room because the house used to belong to my father in law and he hasn’t been able to renovate it ever since he acquired it. The kitchen, according to him, looks like a hole while the living room is too plain. He said that he always wanted to have a really nice looking entertainment system in the living room and with the way things are going, he may actually be able to have that. I am actually impressed that he was able to save up all of his settlement money to be able to afford all of the stuff that he is doing right now. I know some people that also had experience having settlements, but as soon as they get the money, they immediately spend it. Instead of getting something big, they just settle for a small amount.

For Safety and Discipline

I was able to buy a MobileLock Anti-Theft Alarm system for my car and house and even though it hasn’t been installed yet, I feel very safe already, knowing that the house will be planted with some security devices that would get us some nice sleep at night, knowing that nothing wrong would ever visit us. I am planning to have all doors rigged with the alarm system so it could easily detect anyone getting inside the house in the middle of the night. It should also help me keep the kids from going out in the middle of the night and using my car to go someplace else.

It has been quite a problem in the house and I intend to put a stop to it as well. Regarding burglars, it should keep them from getting inside my house and stealing all of my hard earned properties. They do not deserve anything that they steal and they should be punished when they do such felony. In a couple of days, I’ll have them fully functional and everything within my house should be safer. It really is a good investment and I think we will definitely benefit from this… I just know we will.

Save More, Spend Less

I was out to look for curtains for sale the other day to try and find some of those curtains that we saw in the hotel that we stayed in when we went to the Caribbean for a tropical vacation, when I found something even better in a form of an article that speaks of 40 quick and easy ways to green your home. In the said blog, it gave a lot of different techniques to help people turn their houses in to an eco-friendly and money saving place to live in. Instead of just finding a nice curtain to replace the old ones, I could actually get something even better by buying something that could help me save a lot of money from everyday expenses and some more. The money saving tips that I found has actually given me good results already as I have already tried doing some of the tips that they wrote in there. From the looks of it, the list has been researched thoroughly and they were able to find all the faults that people commonly make inside their houses and find better solutions to make everything efficiently working for the whole household. Plus of course, I was able to order some nice curtains from their home page that should be coming within a few days.

Teak Garden furniture – All year round

Posted by admin | Gardening, Furniture | Thursday 2 July 2009 8:14 am

Whether you have just moved in to you dream home or deciding to spice up your life choosing stylish teak garden furniture has become quite popular these days. Teak furniture is extremely durable and will stand up to mostly all the harsh elements, this is why teak garden furniture is the best choice for outdoor furniture. Many of the popular choices for teak garden furniture include; tables, dining sets, benches, sun loungers and even umbrellas.
teak garden furniture needs hardly any maintenance it looks great just the way it is in its natural state. Like all outdoor furniture teak garden furniture can get ‘weathered’ over time but the effort involved in cleaning and restoring it back to its natural state (a Scotch pad and a hosepipe) is minimal.
Due to its hardness teak garden furniture can be crafted perfectly into beautiful fold away sun loungers and tables, perfect for that family picnic. Its natural light tan colour makes teak garden furniture much more appealing compared to PVC or other garden clutter we may have called furniture.
Although teak garden furniture is likely to be the most expensive of all garden furniture we have to look at the long term as teak can quite literally ‘last a lifetime’, without the need for care or attention. Due to its light tan, teak garden furniture has a great colour range from the lightest of stains to the darkest it can complement even the most vibrant of gardens.
When it comes down to choosing good furniture for your garden, teak garden furniture is by far the most sensible choice due to its durability, hardness and style and it will endure the harshest of conditions with ease. So next time you’re looking to buy contemporary patio or garden furniture keep in mind the quality and feel of teak garden furniture.

Home Theater Under Construction

Posted by admin | Furniture, Home Theatre | Thursday 2 July 2009 1:54 am

I finally got my hands on my new Pioneer KURO PDP-6010FD 1080p 60 inches Plasma Display that just got delivered a few hours ago and I just couldn’t be any happier! I am in the process of creating a home theater inside my house and I already had a room cleared and renovated for the said project. I already got the wall prepared for the television, even before it arrived and the sound system and DVD player was already installed as well. The windows were also covered with thick curtains so we could get the room dark, without removing the window itself and the room lighting were replaced with dim lights. Right now, we are only using our extra mattresses as seats but I have all plans to buy home theater furniture to make sure that we all have the feel of the actual theater. I already found a nice brand of home theater seating that I want to buy. The Berkline Reno Power Recline is currently what I want and hopefully I could buy this as soon as possible so we could have the oh so perfect moments, and a lot more exciting times watching the ballgames on my 60 inch television.

Radiators

Posted by admin | Radiators | Wednesday 1 July 2009 7:51 am

In the not so distant past, installing a central heating system in your home was not normally a very creative undertaking. The most critical consideration was how to best heat the room. Until recently the second thing that needed your attention was whether to choose grey or white radiators that would not really catch anyone’s eye. It was a lot like Henry Ford’s statement that you could buy his car in any colour as long as it was black. Today you can find a huge selection of new more artistic radiators made to fit into the décor of any home. Modern interior designers often prefer to show them off rather than concealing them. Some of these trendy units look more like pieces of art hanging on the wall than utilitarian and mundane heating equipment. Up market radiators can also be highly efficient and can increase the value of your residence. People who are looking to purchase a beautiful new home with attractive visual features will appreciate these chic radiators in contemporary or traditional styles in a variety of colours and materials. They are now made to blend in with any furnishings or can even be attractive focal points on their own. Additionally, fashionable radiators come in all sizes and shapes. It is no longer necessary to position the unit according to its size. Instead you can choose the exact place where you want to situate it and then buy a decorative piece of apparatus that will fit best into the space.

Bathrooms

Posted by admin | Bathrooms | Wednesday 1 July 2009 7:50 am

We often like to believe that bathrooms are a quite recent innovation and that before “our” culture arose, everyone went around dirty and smelling bad. The truth is that our ancestors in medieval times actually bathed more regularly than anyone else until the nineteenth century. Public bathrooms were common in London where boys would run down the streets to announce when the water was hot enough for a bath. Wealthy hosts would often have servants bring out a large decorated wooden tub fitted with cushions brought out and filled with warm water and scented oils for them to share with their guests after a sumptuous dinner. The bathrooms of royalty were in some instances similar to what we envision today, with a built in bath tub surrounded by decorative tiles and surrounded by colorful carpets. In the Middle Ages there were even several books available for those intent on improving their hygiene and manners. Advice was given on things we take for granted in today’s bathrooms that were not widely accepted yet, like washing the hands, face and teeth every morning. The wealthy aristocrats had a team of servants attending them in their bathrooms to wash their hands for them usually by pouring warm, scented water from a pitcher, across the nobleman’s hands into a bowl held by a second servant after which the hands were dried with a clean, fresh towel by a third servant. So while they may have not enjoyed the modern technology we do, they realized that keeping clean was a good thing.
